Summary
Star Trek Fleet Command

I’ve been working on STFC since early 2020. In the first years, I was the only UX designer on the project. Every feature in the game passed through me, and I was responsible for shaping the full experience end to end. Later, I built the UX team and moved into a Lead UX role. I’m no longer hands-on with every detail, but all features still go through me for review and approval before release.

In this portfolio section, I’ll show a selection of features where I acted as the UX DRI. These examples reflect my approach, decision-making, and the level of quality I aim to deliver.

Away Teams

Away Teams let you send your officers on assignments to earn rewards while they’re not in use. You select officers based on their key stats and traits, which determine the chance of success and critical rewards. Assignments refresh every 12 hours, and stronger setups can push success above 100% to gain reward multipliers. Traits play a key role by increasing the chance of critical outcomes, especially when they match the assignment requirements. Rewards feed into the Away Teams Research Tree and Store, giving you buffs, resources, and progression, making this system a strong way to get value from your unused officers.

Syndicate (VIP)

The Syndicate is a long-term progression system that gives players permanent buffs, exclusive rewards, and powerful quality-of-life upgrades as they level it up. By earning Syndicate XP through events, purchases, and free daily claims, players unlock benefits such as officer presets, stronger daily goal rewards, exclusive officers, cosmetics, combat bonuses, and extra gameplay features like the Claim All button and additional Exocomp slots. Syndicate buffs stack over time, making progression increasingly valuable across combat, mining, ship management, PvE, and PvP, turning it into one of the most impactful progression systems in Star Trek Fleet Command.

Alliance Star Base

The Alliance Starbase is a shared structure your alliance builds to unlock powerful buffs and exclusive research. You construct it using Subspace Superconductors, then upgrade it with resources earned mainly from Cardassian Stations. Once active, the Starbase can move to Plasma Storms to harvest Plasma, which fuels further upgrades through modules and the Starbase Research Tree. These upgrades give permanent bonuses and new functionality to all members. Progress depends on alliance coordination and contribution, and systems like Alliance Reputation and the Alliance Inventory control access to deeper upgrades and actions.

Exocomps

Exocomps are temporary consumable boosts that improve different parts of your gameplay, such as combat, mining, research, building, and fleet efficiency. After unlocking the Exocomp Factory at Ops Level 16, players can activate consumables through dedicated slots for Galaxy, Station, Combat, and Wildcard boosts. Each Exocomp provides a timed bonus that helps players perform actions faster or more effectively, with some boosts applying instantly and others activating during combat or fleet deployment. Different Exocomps can stack if they affect different stats or use different tiers, making them a flexible system for optimizing both PvE and PvP performance.

Territory Capture

Territory Capture is a competitive system where alliances fight for control of zones in the Origin Sector. During scheduled Takeover events, alliances score points by keeping ships in the zone and holding capture nodes, with points increasing during Overdrive near the end. The alliance with the highest score gains control and unlocks exclusive benefits, including alliance-wide buffs, mining rights, and the ability to relocate stations safely within the zone. Progress depends on strategy, coordination, and active participation, as alliances can only expand into adjacent zones and must manage shared resources to join takeovers and activate services.

U.S.S. Discovery

The U.S.S. Discovery Summoning ability allows players to instantly bring ships to the Discovery’s location through the Mycelial Network. After using the Discovery to instant warp into a system, players can summon any available ship directly to it, regardless of that ship’s normal warp range. This creates strong strategic advantages for combat, mining, reinforcement, and faster fleet movement across the galaxy. To unlock the feature, players must own the U.S.S. Discovery and complete the USS Discovery Summoning Research in the Galaxy Research Tree. Summoning requires resources and can only be used when both the Discovery and the target ship are available and not busy with other activities.

Gorn Eviscerator

The Gorn Eviscerator is a strategic support ship that allows players to create Spatial Rips, temporary portals that let alliance members instantly travel to the ship’s location. This ability opens new possibilities for rapid reinforcement, coordinated attacks, faster travel, and PvE/PvP strategies. The Spatial Rip has limits based on duration, ship capacity, and system access, but upgrading the ship increases its effectiveness by extending portal duration and allowing more ships to use it. The Gorn Eviscerator also features powerful passive abilities that boost Isolytic Damage against Gorn Hunters and increase Apex Isomatter rewards, making it highly valuable for progressing through the Isolytic gameplay loop and resource farming.

Refits (Skins)

Refits let players customize their ships with visual cosmetics and permanent stat bonuses. Unlocking at Level 15, Refits include Ship Skins, which change a ship’s appearance and provide permanent buffs, and Projectiles, which modify weapon animations while also granting passive bonuses across all ships. These upgrades come in different rarities and allow players to improve both the look and performance of their fleet. Refits can be unlocked through events, rewards, chests, and special offers, adding another layer of progression, personalization, and long-term power growth in Star Trek Fleet Command.

STFC In-app Store

The STFC in-app Store is designed around player progression, gameplay loops, and long-term account growth, offering bundles that adapt based on a player’s Operations level and spending behavior. As players progress, the store introduces higher-value offers focused on officers, specialty ships, battle passes, resources, and limited-time event rewards. Some of the most valuable purchases are progression-driven items such as Battle Passes and ships like the Franklin, Vidar, and Talios, which unlock important gameplay systems and improve farming efficiency. The store also supports multiple progression paths through systems like the Faction Store, Event Store, and reputation-based stores, giving players access to ship blueprints, officer shards, rare materials, and exclusive rewards that evolve alongside their progression in Star Trek Fleet Command.

War Room (Piggy Bank – PVP)

The War Room is a progression system focused on PvP participation and alliance contribution, unlocked at Level 20 through the mission “Show Us Your Mettle.” Players earn PvP Points by defeating enemy ships, raiding unprotected resources, participating in Territory Capture, and engaging in Incursions and other PvP activities. These points contribute toward unlocking Warchests, which contain rewards such as resources, ship materials, components, and exclusive research particles. As the War Room levels up, it grants increasingly powerful buffs including Shield HP, Officer Stats, Isolytic Damage bonuses, and improved Warchest rewards, making it a valuable long-term system for players and alliances focused on competitive gameplay.

Treasury (Piggy Bank – PVE)

The Treasury is a progression system and building that rewards players with valuable resources, materials, and premium rewards through a limited-time Treasury Lockbox event. After unlocking it at Ops Level 15, players fill the Treasury by defeating hostiles and completing Daily Goals, then open it using a Desealing Rod. The Treasury also provides permanent gameplay buffs that improve Mining Rate, Max Cargo, and Protected Cargo across ships, with stronger bonuses unlocked through building upgrades using Optical Diodes. Higher Treasury levels increase both the quality of rewards and additional progression opportunities, making it an important long-term feature tied to daily activity, event participation, and overall account growth.
